The Wacker Neuson ET145 sold to Aztech Trees about to go into action
GEM supplies ‘a Machine on a Mission’ to Aztech Tree Services We have recently supplied ‘a very bespoke’ model ET145 excavator to Aztech Tree Services of Sevenoaks, Kent. It is being used to fulfil a critical conservation project in the region’s woodlands to help tackle Ash Dieback disease. The Wacker Neuson excavator has been painted in an eye-catching gloss black finish by J C Commercials of Aylesham, Canterbury and then fitted with a VOSCH 1600 Grapple Saw by Richard Court Forestry Engineering Ltd, based in Godalming Surrey. The machine has also been supplied with a set of buckets and hydraulic hitch by well- known manufacturer, Strickland MFG, who went ‘above and beyond’ in supplying these in a speedy time. Adam Ashworth, the owner of Aztech Tree Services (pictured) explained that the machine will be used to help combat the serious problem of Ash Dieback disease (Chalara) by felling diseased trees in local woodlands and estates in the safest and most cost-effective method. The felled timber is then processed for use as a biomass fuel. Graham Mortimore of GEM Plant explains, “It was very much a team effort to complete this very bespoke machine, to spec on time, so thanks to all involved and to Aztech Tree Services for their custom.” The Wacker Neuson model ET145 is widely regarded as ‘The Champion of the Compact Excavators’. It offers significantly enhanced performance, without the size of the excavator ever posing a problem. Its performance, stability and agility are perfectly balanced. Up to five additional control circuits, of which three are individually adjustable for multifunctional attachments, make this machine an ideal choice for working with the Vosch Grapple Saw. Ash Dieback is a highly destructive disease for ash trees especially in the UK’s native species- It is caused by a fungus of Asian origin and is present in most parts of the UK now. The felling of diseased trees helps to reduce its spread but above all, they are becoming a real safety hazard. Chalara is making these trees incredibly brittle and unpredictable. Our aim is to help prevent the risk of damage to property and prevent any severe injury to members of the public as a result of tree failure.

Wacker Neuson - New Dumper Versions
Wacker Neuson has new versions of the two biggest wheel dumpers: the models DW60 and DW90 convince with impressive additional options, improved safety features and even more comfort. Combined with sophisticated equipment features such as the hydrostatic 4-wheel drive with automatic ECO mode and auto-stop function, working even more economically is possible with these dumpers. The tried and tested wheel dumpers DW60 and DW90, with their combination of high payloads of 6,000 and 9,000 kilograms, compact dimensions and optimum off-road capability thanks to the articulated pendulum joint, have already proven themselves in many applications. After extensive reworking, their equipment now includes the environment-friendly and simultaneously productive diesel engines of emission standard Stage V. Especially on uneven ground, both the DW60 and DW90 dumpers demonstrate their strength. Thanks to the hydrostatic 4-wheel drive, they are easy to operate: The operator just engages the forward or reverse gear; then, he can concentrate fully on his work. The pleasant driving experience is enhanced by the continuously constant tractive force of 0 to the maximum speed, as well as the hydrostatic brake effect, which begins as soon as the foot comes off the gas pedal. In addition, the automatic brake lights light up when the machine slows, making the construction site area safer. The automatic ECO mode of the machines ensures minimal consumption with optimum power use, with the automatic decrease in idling speed and efficient coordination of the electronically controlled drive system and diesel engine. On the dumpers DW60 and DW90, a spring-loaded parking brake provides more safety on the construction site, going into operation automatically when the engine is switched off – the operator does not have to activate it manually. The high-quality standard equipment in the operating area – with or without cabin – makes the operator’s everyday work easier and provides more efficiency. Why Ellis Agricultural Services Purchased a Second Wacker Neuson ET90 Excavator
Anthony Ellis, Director of Ellis Agricultural Services, explains why the Wacker Neuson ET90 supplied by GEM Plant Sales, is the ‘Excavator of Choice’ for his business. Ellis Agricultural Services based in Canterbury provide a range of land management solutions throughout Kent. The majority of the work carried out is for farmers and landowners which accounts for about 70%, while the remaining is for commercial work, such as site clearance, general ground works, as well as projects for private clients. Although they have owned other brands of excavators since 2015, they purchased their first Wacker Neuson in 2017; this being a TAB boom version on steel tracks fitted with a fully integrated Steelwrist X12 tiltrotator. Ellis Agricultural Services use their diggers as tool carriers and have an array of attachments which cover a variety of operations including a full set of buckets, a land clearance rake, a grading beam, a ripper tine and a 9 tine grab, which all work in conjunction with the Steelwrist tiltrotator. “We’re setup to be able to drop the tilt rotator off and pick up other attachments which include two styles of tree shear, a rotary screw splitter for timber and a fixed tooth mulching head. In fact, we liked the excavator so much that in 2019, we took delivery of our second Wacker Neuson machine,” says Anthony Ellis, Director of Ellis Agricultural Services.
